Tesla's Cybertruck VIN decoder has gone live, revealing Dual and Triple Motor configurations and a gross weight between 8,001 and 10,000 pounds.

Why It Matters: The launch of the Cybertruck VIN decoder is a notable step forward for the all-electric pickup. Its launch makes sense as well considering that Tesla just announced that the Cybertruck will hold its first delivery event on November 30.

Go Deeper: As could be seen in Tesla’s VIN decoder, the Cybertruck shares the same categorization as the Semi, whereas the Model S, X, 3, and Y share a category. The document also shows that the vehicle will come in Dual and Triple Motor configurations.

The gross weight classes suggest that the Cybertruck will be between 8,001 and 10,000 pounds. This would make the Cybertruck's gross vehicle weight heavier than the Ford F-150 Lightning, and quite close to the Hummer EV. This is the Cybertruck’s gross weight, however, so if the vehicle has a payload capacity of 3,500 pounds, as initially announced, the vehicle will have a curb weight of about  6,500 pounds.

A Final Word: The launch of the Cybertruck VIN decoder is a positive sign for Tesla investors and customers alike. It indicates that the company is on track to begin deliveries of the Cybertruck soon. The Dual and Triple Motor configurations and gross weight suggest that the Cybertruck will be a versatile vehicle that can meet the needs of a variety of customers.
