Elon Musk has reconfirmed that the Model Y Performance will soon include a Track Mode. The request for Track Mode has been popular since the introduction of Model Y in 2020,  and now it looks like it's finally happening. Elon Musk responded to the request with more than just a simple tweet.

On Twitter, Elon Musk reacted to the request for a track mode by stating,

"This is harder than it sounds but okay." October 16, 2022

Since the release of Model Y in 2020, this feature has been requested frequently, and Elon Musk has once again promised Track Mode for the Tesla Model Y Performance. Earlier in 2020, a  group made the same request. In response to this club's tweets, Musk committed to Track Mode three times on the Model Y Performance, garnering over eight thousand likes.

On Twitter, @ bennettm_ asked about getting track mode for the Tesla Model Y Performance: "Could 3/Y owners with Acceleration Boost upgrade get Track Mode, or at least a traction control disable function? Would be helpful for some of us who want to track our cars. Thanks."

To which Musk replied, "Okay." This garnered over eight thousand likes and has since been retweeted many times.

Tesla has worked on this since it added Track Mode to its Model S in 2021. Even though track mode was added to Model 3 in 2020 and Model S in 2021, many believe adding it to Model Y is more reasonable, given its larger dimensions.

However, Musk's comment, "This is harder than it sounds," provides insight into what might be causing the delay. The unknown reason why we haven't seen any updates yet

Musk stated at the Tesla shareholders meeting in August that the Model Y is on track to be the world's best-selling vehicle by revenue in 2022 and by volume in 2023.

Despite Musk's comment that "This is harder than it sounds," it appears as though we'll see Track Mode soon! There's no doubt there's a compelling reason why Tesla wants to add this feature to their newest model—we just don't know what that reason is yet.

Elon Musk has reaffirmed that the Model Y Performance will soon be available with a Track Mode.

In 2020, the same group requested that Musk add this feature to the Model Y. Musk stated at the Tesla shareholders meeting in August that the Model Y is on track to be the world's best-selling vehicle by revenue in 2022 and by volume in 2023.

The efficiency of Track Mode on the Model S Plaid and Model 3 is lauded. It permits drivers to tweak numerous aspects of the vehicle to make it track-ready. These modifications are significant; for instance, the driver might bias the rear motor more to fix a loose entry or departure from a corner.

The unknown is why this feature has been delayed or what problem exists with adding it now, but it appears it will be ready shortly. There is a compelling reason why Tesla wants to add this feature quickly—it will help them compete with Porsche’s Taycan electric sedan, which includes Sport Mode.
