Atmos Surround Sound and Apple Music Are Now Coming in Tesla Cars

The Tesla sound system has received massive praise worldwide, and it's about to get even better.

With the Peterson Automotive Museum revealing that Apple Music is coming to Tesla cars, we expect more audio capabilities to come with Dolby Atmos surround sound.

Tesla has been working to bring immersive surround technology sound, and this partnership will ensure you can enjoy your favorite music in high-quality audio while driving.

Dolby Atmos provides a more immersive experience than traditional sound systems because it uses height channels. Thus, giving you the feeling of being inside your favorite movie or song.

In 2012, Dolby Atmos first came into movie theaters. Since then, it has been featured in speakers, TVs and A/V receivers, and soundbars. Now it features high-end automobiles such as Tesla.

Dolby Atmos differs from traditional stereo with height information on the mix. This means you can hear the sound from above and below you and from the sides of your car.

The system uses software to make sure that every part of the car is covered by sound so that no matter where you are sitting or standing inside your vehicle, you will always be able to hear what is happening in an audio environment around you.

Dolby Atmos is an immersive surround sound format that uses dedicated speakers to create a 3D soundscape in your car. In the past, this has been limited to home theaters and movie theaters, but now it's making its way into your car.

This is a good fit for EVs because they don't have an internal combustion engine, which is usually what produces the background noise we hear when driving. When you get rid of that noise, you hear more details in music—and that's a good thing.

But there's a difference between Dolby Atmos and Tesla's immersive sound system with encoding into actual recordings: Apple Music will be able to play in Dolby Atmos format on Tesla models equipped with the right hardware, but only certain songs will be encoded as Dolby Atmos files (for example, those from The Beatles), while other songs will still play in stereo or surround sound formats like 5.1 or 7.1.

What Matters?

Tesla is working with Dolby to bring Atmos to surround sound to the Model 3 and Model Y. The partnership is a natural fit for Tesla, as the company has long been an industry leader in offering premium audio experiences in its vehicles.

Tesla has long been known for its commitment to offering high-end audio systems in its cars. The Model 3 features a premium sound system as standard equipment, and the Model Y will be no different.

The partnership will also help Tesla expand its audience and market share by providing customers with a unique experience they can't get from other luxury brands.

Dolby Atmos will require the premium sound system option, which would add additional cost but currently features on Model 3 and Model Y.
