Tesla Model 3 Highland Gets Stellar Review From MotorTrend

The Tesla Model 3 Highland has been reviewed by MotorTrend. As per the motoring publication, Tesla’s latest creation is a home run, as it made an otherwise already stellar car even better. 

Why it matters: MotorTrend is a respected automotive publication, so its positive review of the new 2024 Tesla Model 3 is a good sign for the car.

What's new: The new Model 3 features a "comprehensive effort" to improve build quality, range, and comfort. These culminate in an electric vehicle that is far above its rivals in the market. 

Build quality: The new Model 3 has tighter panel gaps and better sealing, which results in a quieter interior. The publication also praises the car's new acoustically insulating glass. These improvements are expected to improve the vehicle's reception among consumers -- and perhaps even some critics. 

Range: The publication says that the new Model 3 has an improved range, but official EPA ratings have not yet been released. That said, other territories where the Model 3 Highland is sold have hinted at range improvements of about 10%. 

Comfort: The new Model 3 has a more comfortable ride than the previous model, thanks to new frequency-adaptive passive shock absorbers. This makes the Model 3 very comfortable even if it lacks the adaptive air suspension of the Model S and Model X. 

Other improvements: MotorTrend also notes that the new Model 3 has a redesigned steering wheel and a standard 8-inch screen for rear passengers. The rear screen in particular should make trips in the new Model 3 more enjoyable. 

What's missing: The new Model 3 still lacks a physical instrument cluster or head-up display, and that the sunroof shades are not standard. That being said, MotorTrend was impressed with the new 2024 Tesla Model 3 overall. The publication calls it a "solid improvement" over the previous model and says that it is "even more appealing to buyers."

What's next: The new Model 3 is expected to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2023 at prices starting at around $47,000.
